IBI Group to review CCTV operations at Brent

The London Borough of Brent Council, in northwest London, wants to improve and expand its crime, community safety, and traffic CCTV system.

LONDON – IBI Group has been commissioned by the London Borough of Brent Council, home local authority for Wembley Stadium in northwest London, to look at how the borough can improve and expand its crime, community safety, and traffic CCTV system.

IBI will review how the CCTV system is organized, the services it provides, and the technology it uses. The review will look at opportunities to add services such as remote telecare delivery of health and social services, and an out-of-hours customer contact centre.

It will also look at opportunities to modernize the system, and share CCTV services with other borough departments and partners such as the Metropolitan Police and neighbouring boroughs.

The project is part of a larger effort to balance service delivery efficiency with growing demand. “Like many local authorities, the London Borough of Brent is facing significant financial challenges, coupled with a growing demand for its services,” said IBI Group’s Kelvin Summoogum. “In Brent, in the last five years, the number of people over 80 years is up by 24% and the number under 10 years up 12% over the same period. These demographic changes, along with changes in central government funding, are requiring Brent to investigate options for a radical re-think on how it delivers its services.”

IBI Group’s strategic blueprint will present options for Brent to expand the CCTV operation into an authority-wide operation. In the process, Brent will transform its service delivery to:

  • Be financially sustaining
  • Enable a simplified and more integrated view of borough operations
  • Improve collaboration and integrated decision-making within the borough as well as with its operational partners

IBI Group’s work is part of Brent Council’s overall cabinet review of local services.
